I'm pleased to offer one-to-one millinery lessons in my riverside studio! Tailored to what you would like to learn, these are perfect if you would like learn how to make a hat or fascinator. Or perhaps you'd like brush up on specific hat making skills. I will speak to you in advance to find out what you are interested in learning so I can best guide you to make the most of your time. If you're unsure of how long you might need, just ask and I'll offer some advice. Classes are held in my 1st floor studio in Sun Pier House in Chatham, Kent, ME4 4HF. The sessions include basic millinery materials for your project (wool felt or sinamay), and the use of my hat block collection, specialist tools, and haberdashery supplies. It also includes refreshments of tea, coffee and biscuits. If you'd like to use fur felt or other materials they can be arranged for an additional fee. What Do I Need to Bring? - Basic materials are included, but feel free to bring along any specific trims or materials you'd like to incorporate, or pop me an email to ask about them. - A metal thimble - this helps with blocking and sewing through often thick layers of millinery materials. - An apron, if you can, to help protect your clothes. A waterproof one is a bonus. But I can provide a fabric one if needed. - A note book and pen are always useful to make any notes or sketches during your lesson. Payments: Once you've selected your preferred time, I'll be in touch to discuss what you would like to make and to confirm the booking. An invoice will be emailed to you and will be payable to confirm your booking. If you would prefer to split the payment in two, just ask, and a 50% deposit will be payable upon booking, with the balance due 14 days before the class takes place. Timings: Timings of the classes can be relatively flexible to suit your needs, just email to ask. Full day sessions include a 1hr lunch break. Lunch isn't provided, but you are welcome to bring some with you (we have a microwave available), or there are lots of options locally. Cancellations & Rescheduling: Please provide at least 14 days notice to cancel your class. As materials are ordered and prepared in advance of each class, refunds are unable to be given if less than 14 days notice is given. However I am more than happy to reschedule.
